The game Dungeon Siege is based in a mythical world, filled with an intricate storyline. The droog, subhuman creatures not intelligent enough to form any kind of civilization who throughout all their history have been enslaved and put to another's use, have allied themselves with an evil villian, who is bent on the destruction of the Kingdom Ehb, one of the youngest states bordering the Plain of Tears. Dwarves and humans live together in relative peace, mages are also accepted better than anywhere else in the Plain of Tears. The droog are also allowed a slight degree of self-rule. It's a country searching for an identity, something to set itself apart. It's rife with trouble is a great adventure for the young at heart.

Combat and fighting style that sets this game apart? Not much different from your average Baldur's Gate II. You get your party of from one to eight unique characters. Your job is to assemble a fighting force, be it just you, or you and a number of greedy mercenaries. :) This is a pause-style game, and each character can be directed differently to attack in whatever way a different creature.

The purpose of the game is basically the same as any other RPG. :) You make your way through the Kingdom Ehb, and battle the big baddie at the end, with a WHOLE lot of fun during the long trip.

If your not used to the slow-paced fighting style of this game, it takes some getting used to. To be sure, it's a world different from the all-loved Diablo 2, Diablo 2: LOD. :)

Aside from that, though, the game is essentially fast paced. I suggest, if you were to play, finishing one chapter a day. I'm not sure how many there are though, I never really kept track. :)

At a glance, here are some pro's/con's

Pro's:

  • More than decent graphics.
  • Fun storyline
  • Awesome looking baddies
  • More than plentiful items/gold
  • Tons of storage space
  • Many shops
  • Parties (Could be seen as a pro)
  • Pause command

Cons:

  • Very basic character development
  • No choice in skill/stat points
  • Parties (I hate parties in RPG's)

I played the game for a long while, and during this time a friend and I came up with an idea. We decided to play single player with no party at all, besides a mule. We went through the whole game in single player, and soaked up all the exp that should've been shared amongst the party. We had lvl 70-80 lvl chars when it was over, then we dominated on the internet. The only bad part of this game in my eyes, is it's too long, for someone with a short attention span like me. :) The way the game is played, it gets boring fast. But while its fun, you'll be having the time of your life killing all the krug your character can handle! :)

?/10 ???

I give it a 7.8/10
